Merrimack valley federal credit union donates $15k to ymca

LAWRENCE — The Merrimack Valley YMCA has received a generous donation of $15,000 to support its annual “Reach Out for Youth and Families” campaign. The support comes from one of its longtime partners, Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union, and will provide needed financial assistance to families so they may participate in the YMCA’s programming including after-school child care, sports teams, camping programs and other health and wellness activities.

“We are proud of our partnership with the Merrimack Valley Federal Credit Union. Thanks to their support, we are able to be there for children and families when they need us most,” said Stephen C. Ives, Merrimack Valley YMCA President/CEO.

‘Hope and Blessing’ series starts today

KINGSTON — Dr. Mary Pearson, family practice physician and COO of New Creation Healing Center, 80 Route 125, will be leading a six-week study on “Hope and Blessing’” on consecutive Tuesday evenings, starting today, and running from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Each study will build on the previous study, but will be designed to be self contained so people can come to the program even if they have to miss one or two weeks.

WINDHAM — Windham Recreation is considering a second father-daughter dance because of the overwhelming interest. The tentative date is March 18.

Stevens Corner open house Saturday

NORTH ANDOVER — An open house will be held by Neighborhood of Affordable Housing (NOAH) and Corcoran Management Company on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the new Stevens Corner apartments at 75 Park St. There are 22 units remaining for rent. Residents of North Andover may be given preference for these affordable apartments.

Located at the corner of Park and Osgood streets, this totally reconstructed building was once a nursing home. It has been transformed into a new, contemporary building that includes five one-bedroom, 32 two-bedroom, and five three-bedroom apartments. Church to host ham dinner March 3

HAVERHILL — All Saints Parish will host a pit ham dinner March 3 after the 4 p.m. Mass.

Breast cancer risk seminar is Feb. 28

HAVERHILL — Assessing Breast Cancer Risk, a free medical Meet the Expert seminar with surgeon Kathryn Hughes, MD, will be held Feb. 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. in Merrimack Valley Hospital’s first-floor auditorium.

Hughes will discuss risk factors, define and identify high risk for breast cancer, breast cancer screenings for normal and high-risk patients, and identify and explain risk-reducing strategies. This event provides one free contact hour for nursing. Admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. Registration is required.
