Mgm resorts announces plans for nongaming hotel in china – las vegas review
MGM Resorts International will build a nongaming luxury hotel in Shanghai, China as part of the company’s growing MGM Hospitality division.
In a deal announced Tuesday, MGM Resorts said it would build and operate a 200-room hotel with retail and entertainment through a joint venture with Diaoyutai State Guest House of he People’s Republic of China.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2015 and will be built for the Suning Real Estate Group. The property will be known as the Bellagio Shanghai hotel.
MGM Hospitality was formed to operate hotels, resorts and residences in key destinations around the world, including the Middle East, North Africa, India, and China, under the Bellagio, MGM Grand and Skylofts brands.
“This strategic partnership with Suning further extends our reach into China,” MGM Resorts Chairman Jim Murren said in a statement. “We believe relationships like this create new opportunities to expand our brand reach into this strategically vital marketplace.”
